Mission

Liberation Station was born out of the urgency to expose how Israel and its supporting structures use culture and music to whitewash their international image and normalize an ongoing genocide. This strategy of cultural whitewashing isn’t new, we’ve seen it in several recent events, but we’ve also seen how collective action and boycott can dismantle it.

The immediate trigger for our initiative was HÖR’s Weekender in Lisbon, a platform that claims neutrality but, in practice, censored artists and silenced voices that were supportive of Palestine. We decided to respond creatively and collectively by launching our own initiative on the exact same dates, using the same mediums: music, clubbing, streaming, and community radios, all while running a fundraising campaign for Gaza.

From September 30 to October 5, we’ll host 9 events across 5 cities, from north to south of Portugal. These include live streams and gatherings in key underground and alternative venues. Everything is done voluntarily, non-profit, with one single purpose: to unite, raise our voices, and channel resources to those who need them most.

Our project is a space of active solidarity. All funds raised go directly to families in Gaza. With the guidance of our partners who are in regular contact with several families, we’ll distribute the funds after the campaign, prioritizing those in the most critical situations. Every transfer will be documented and published to ensure full transparency.

Liberation Station is music, solidarity, and resistance. It proves that culture doesn’t have to be complicit. It can be a tool for truth-telling, community, and struggle.

FAQ

Who is behind Liberation Station?

We’re a collective of over thirty friends and friends of friends spread across Portugal. Most of us are connected to music and the underground scene as artists, producers, but not only. We organize entirely on a volunteer, non-profit basis, and came together to build an event that both exposes the use of culture as zionist propaganda while directly supporting Palestinian families in Gaza.

Do I have to pay to get into the events?

It depends on the venue. Some events are free entry with optional donations at the door. Others, depending on the venue’s policy, will charge an entry fee. In those cases, we’ve made agreements so that a percentage of ticket and bar revenue also goes towards our campaign for families in Gaza (more detailed info coming soon).

How can I donate?

Online (official site): Donations through our website are processed via PayPal and go directly to Associação Juvenil CulturMais, NIPC 510862110, a legally registered association in Portugal.
At the events: Donations can be made in cash or via MB Way. Due to technical limitations, MB Way payments are temporarily received through the personal accounts of local team members and then transferred to the association’s account.

Why are donations going through an association?

Because the project doesn’t have its own bank account. Using this association allows us to manage everything in a safe, centralized and organized way. All funds are centralized in the association’s account, and it’s from there that transfers to families are made. This campaign has been formally approved by the association’s board, which authorized the collection and distribution of funds.

Why are MB Way donations going through personal accounts?

Unfortunately, the association doesn’t have MB Way, and, due to technical limitations, we couldn’t integrate it into our website. Since MB Way is one of the most common payment methods in Portugal, we didn’t want to leave it out. So, at events, we use our personal MB Way numbers. We know this isn’t ideal, which is why all MB Way (and cash) donations are later transferred to the association’s account where they’re centralized. We’ll publish receipts and updates so every euro is fully accounted for.

Where do the funds go?

The association distributes 100% of the funds to families in Gaza through their personal GoFundMe campaigns and similar platforms, which are currently the main channels that people in Gaza can receive help. At the end of our campaign, and with the guidance of our partners who are in regular contact with the families, we’ll allocate the funds by prioritizing those in greatest need at that moment. Proof of all transfers will be published on our platforms to ensure transparency.

How does sending money actually help families in Gaza?

The cost of living in Gaza has become extremely high due to the blockade and lack of aid. A kilo of rice, for example, can cost up to $40. Beyond food and essentials, families face enormous expenses for displacement, medical care, replacing destroyed belongings, and other urgent needs. Every contribution helps relieve these hardships, giving families the means to survive and preserve their dignity under impossible conditions.

How do I know the money really reaches the families?

All transfers will be documented and later published on our platforms to ensure complete transparency.

Can I donate even if I don’t attend the events?

Yes! Just use the payment methods available on our website. Every contribution, no matter how small, has a direct impact.

Can I donate directly to families instead of through you?

Yes. We want to be fully transparent. The families we’re supporting have their own GoFundMe and similar campaigns, that you can check out here. From there, you can donate directly. You can also support collectives and organizations doing vital work on the ground like Seeds of Hope, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Sameer Project, and others.

How else can I help besides donating?

Spread the word about Liberation Station, share our fundraising campaign on social media, and come to our events. But beyond donations, we also call for fundamental mobilization and political action: join demonstrations, pressure institutions, get involved in collectives, and keep the public spotlight on the ongoing genocide. Solidarity is built collectively: in music, in the streets, and in the struggle.
